Fast Decompression

چکیده
Compression techniques are widely used to reduce the amount of memory that is needed to store data. A common scenario is the use of compressed data on a secondary storage device. For subsequent access, data has to be retrieved and decompressed. One might assume that the additional decompression step implies a performance penalty. However, a careful selection of a suitable compression method and an optimized implementation of a decompressor can even improve the overall performance.

Influence of decompression rate on the expansion velocity and expansion style of bubbly fluids
[1] The decompression rate of magma is correlated with explosivity of volcanic eruptions. We present a series of decompression experiments in a shock tube apparatus to investigate the effect of decompression rate on the expansion and eruption style of bubbly fluids. We also consider the effects of the pressure change DP and initial vesicularity fi. As an analogue for magma we use viscoelastic p...
متن کاملImage Compression and Decompression using nested Inverse Fourier Transform and Fast Fourier Transform
Image compression is the reduction or elimination of redundancy in image data representation in order to achieve savings in storage and communication. In this paper we propose a method for image compression and decompression using nested IFFT and FFT which works on both color and grey images. This technique is simple in implementation and utilizes less memory and also requires less computationa...
متن کاملFast hyperbaric decompression after heliox saturation altered the brain proteome in rats
Better understanding of the physiological mechanisms and neurological symptoms involved in the development of decompression sickness could contribute to improvements of diving procedures. The main objective of the present study was to determine effects on the brain proteome of fast decompression (1 bar/20 s) compared to controls (1 bar/10 min) after heliox saturation diving, using rats in a mod...
متن کاملXenon Blocks Neuronal Injury Associated with Decompression
Despite state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment, about 30% of patients suffering neurologic decompression sickness (DCS) exhibit incomplete recovery. Since the mechanisms of neurologic DCS involve ischemic processes which result in excitotoxicity, it is likely that HBO in combination with an anti-excitotoxic treatment would improve the outcome in patients being treated for DCS. There...
متن کاملImproving the Compression Efficiency for News Web Service Using Semantic Relations Among Webpages
Both compression and decompression play important roles in a web service system. High compression ratio helps to save the storage, while fast decompression contributes to decreasing the response time of service. Specifically focusing on the news web service, this paper proposes a compression mechanism to improve the efficiency of compression and decompression simultaneously by taking advantage ...
متن کاملThe Fast Fibonacci Decompression Algorithm
Data compression has been widely applied in many data processing areas. Compression methods use variable-size codes with the shorter codes assigned to symbols or groups of symbols that appear in the data frequently. Fibonacci coding, as a representative of these codes, is used for compressing small numbers. Time consumption of a decompression algorithm is not usually as important as the time of...
